THE LIPSMACKER MATCH OF THE WEEK   

A/B Group – Bill “Tricky Dick” Nixon vs Kurt “Lipgloss” Kreyling

Usually LG steers clear of MOW because he is the one making picks. Meanwhile the Rookie of Year Bill Nixon has steered clear of a nickname all season. Almost as well as his Grandfather’s attempt with Watergate. Not this week folks thanks to CJ. Both sitting with a 7 handicap shows how tight this should be but let’s get real. Kurt is still trying to get over a serious hamstring injury and playing on one leg. He also has a new driver in the bag he’s getting used to.

GLOSSY PREDICTION – Same as 1968 over George McGovern. Nixon by landslide!!! 7-3

C/D Group – Mike “Swiper” Ethridge vs. Serkan “The Assassin” Freeman

Serkan and Ethridge could be looked at as the building blocks of the future for this league. Let that sink in for a minute. Scary as hell, right? But it is true, I believe tonight’s match is a look into future of GCCGL. In comparison it’s is like watching Zion Williamson and Luka Doncic go one on one (Serkan is Zion in this scenario if you couldn’t figure that out). Rookie Serkan has been a great addition to the league. A guy with a very below average golf game but above par personality and social life is just what this league needs. Meanwhile the Super Sophomore Mike Ethridge takes his game very serious and has improved tremendously in his second season. Always fun to see guys improve their game in this league. Just look at Rayburn…..hahaha. But Swiper does take the game seriously. So serious that for a full year I thought the guy was diabetic but was happy to find out his blood sugar is fine he just uses some type of golf shot tracking device that connects to his waist. That’s pretty damn serious.

GLOSSY PREDICTION – 12 Strokes is a lot tough to overcome. Ethridge used this advantage in week 7 to dominate Serkan 9-1. Let that ass woopin sink in for a minute. Can’t pick Serkan because of the strokes but it will be much tighter this time around. Ethridge wins 5.5-4.5

CJ Battle Golf Game

Everyone knows I absolutely suck and hate Battle Golf Week. But I faired pretty well last week in my opinion as my Battle Golf scoring average is now improving from a 2.83pts per event. Grabbed my team a total of 3 pts. Trending up fellas!

# of Early Morning Text Messages

As everyone knows four of our compadres are out in Vegas pretending to be professional golfers for a week. Actually, three are pretending to be golfers while the fourth is out searching for…well, it’s Rayburn, you can come up with something on your own. They landed around 2am and the phone started blowing up. What this means is many of our cell phones will be getting blown up all night with pictures of Duer riding on Mike Tyson’s Tiger, Roller dressed up an Elvis impersonator singing Love Me Tender to Rebecca Lobo and Harris smoking cigs and playing blackjack with Celine Dion.

Golf Courses of Kenton Co

I admit I had no faith in Kenton Co after the past two years. I almost quit the league because I could not stand playing the crap we were playing on. But this season there have been improvements. The greens have been better. Still not perfect but they are the right color and seem to roll pretty good, just watch out for a few divots along the way. (Fellas it is not hard. Fix your damn divots and while you’re at it fix 1 or 2 more that are not yours). The bunker renovation is not complete but I honestly think things are looking up. If we could only figure out the cart girl situation. Tip 1. Hire better looking cart girls, not old women….girls!  Tip 2. Have them show up on any holes besides the first two I play.

Mike Morrell REM Hours

Mike had a pretty good excuse last week for No Show/No Sub. His wife went into labor early. Everyone seems to be doing great but Mike considered taking one more week off. Until last night…he changed the diaper, he breast fed the baby, he rocked it to sleep. He laid down for approximately 12minutes and heard the high-pitched screaming sound from the nursery. Mike then turned over, grabbed his phone and text his team “I will be there tomorrow fellas”. Thatta boy. But hey, Congrats on the sex Mike! 

Substitutes

What is the deal with trying to find subs this year? We are one team shorter so I figured subs would be lining up. Is it because we have more members than ever not working at GC? Where are the interns? Is there another league stealing our subs? What does everyone else do on Thursday nights? Without a doubt subs are trending down.

Andy Crowe

In Andy’s Rookie year he did the improbable finishing the seasons with zero wins. 2018 he stepped it up  and hammered out five big victories. Folks…. Andy Crowe is sitting on 3 wins this season. Pick it up Crowe.
