Kreyling Korner – Week #7 – 05/30/19
THE LIPSMACKER MATCH OF THE WEEK
Another week where I’m a little short on time so we only have MOWs for this post. Overall record stands at 1-4. Let’s go.
A/B Group – Joe “Cousin Joe” Cook vs. Jason “Cupcake” Nill – ahh yes, breaking my MOW rules this week and picking a match with a teammate. I don’t know what to think about these MOWs anymore. With each passing week it feels more and more like the jinx is real. Or, I could just really suck at picking winners (I’m just as bad at horse racing for the record). What I do know, this match is going to be a doozy. Also, it gives me an opportunity to try and light a fire under the ass of one of my teammates. I am in my 9th year of this league and during my time, Cupcake and I have been on the same team 5 of those years. He’s also a HOF member and number two on the all-time champions list (6). Want to guess when his last championship was…2011, the same year I started in the league. Since that year, Cupcake and I have only NOT been on a team twice. Each year I hear about how bad I suck, which I have never disagreed with, and that he will never win a championship with me on his team. Well you know what Cupcake – this year you suck! You are 1-2 in match play with a whopping 14 points, a 4.7 point average a match. Despite your lackluster play we are still only 11.5 points out of first place with 14 weeks to go. Step it up! If you want to tie for that top spot in overall championships, then start playing like it.
GLOSSY PREDICTION – I haven’t even mentioned Cook, who has also kind of struggled this year (1-3 averaging 5 points a match). If there is ever a week for Nill to right the ship, this is the week. I probably screwed myself and will play crappy this week because I called out a teammate, but you know what – I DON’T CARE. I want a championship. And you know what else, screw the MOW jinx. Don’t let me down this week Nill! Cupcake wins 6-4.
C/D Group – Andrew “Han Solo” Crowe vs. Oliver “Ollie” Livermore – At times, across all sports, managers like to strategically use the media to call out the poor play of certain team members. I by no means consider myself the manager of I’d Tap That, but I do have an affiliation with the GCCGL media (I use the term GCCGL media in the loosest terms possible). So let’s keep this train rolling! Ollie – you are killing me this year. You had 101 points last year. 1-0-1!!! That’s an average of 6.3 points a match. This year you are 1-3 averaging 4.5 points. I’m not expecting you to score 101 again, but seriously, get it in gear. You are playing Crowe this week and he is 5-25 lifetime in this league. That’s right – 5 WINS all-time! Andy, I’m sorry to point that out, I like you, I voted for you as one of the people I want in my foursome each week, but stats don’t lie brother…ask George.
GLOSSY PREDICTION – Get it together Ollie. I don’t care that you won a championship last year, you aren’t coasting on this team. Crowe is 5-25 forever in this league! 5 and 25! (Love you Crowe!) No excuses, get it done this week. One more thing to consider Ollie – the trade window opened in week 4 and closes in week 14. Ollie wins 5.5-4.5.
