Kreyling Korner – Week #4 – 05/12/16

THE LIPSMACKER MATCH OF THE WEEK

MOW - Week 4

Two weeks into match-play and my MOW record is 2-2. I haven’t checked my record historically, but I’m willing to bet this is my best start since I’ve been doing the MOW.  Let’s see if I can do something completely unheard of – 2 wins in week #4.

A/B Group – Mitch “the Unlucky Prince” Smith vs Nick “Potter” Duer.  Although he won’t admit it – it still keeps him up at night.  The 2016 draft was less than a month ago, and as the rounds went on, Mitch watched himself slip further and further down the draft board.  Despite having one of the lower handicaps in the league, Mitch ultimately went to the Prince Albert Syndrome with the first pick in the second round.  The real story line, Joe Eiser picked Duer over Smith with the last pick of the first round.  Needless to say, Mitch felt disrespected.  Angry emails have been sent to Cletus on a weekly basis and the trash talking to the league in general is off the charts.  Early in the season, it’s hard to argue the Duer pick.  Potter stands at 2-0 compared to Mitch’s 0-2 start.  Gloss Prediction: The Prince breaks into the 2016 win column tonight in a big way: 7-3.

C/D Group – Joe “Boot Boy” Eiser vs John “Syndrome” Rayburn. Some can argue this is an unlikely pick this week, especially when you consider Ollie and Almeida are set to square off for the 10th time in their careers.  However, Joe dropping to the C/D group is an interesting dynamic this year.  In previous years, Joe has been getting strokes on nearly a weekly basis.  This year, he’s giving strokes…and a lot of strokes.  So far he’s played well with a record at 1-1 (losing to a low net winner in week #3).  Tonight he plays the master of intimidation and mind tricks – Syndrome.  John is hot in 2016, jump starting to 2-0.  Glossy Prediction: 6 strokes is too hard for Bootsy to overcome – Syndrome wins a nail bitter: 5.5-4.5.

THE KREYLING KORNER

Kreyling Korner - Week 4

The angriest golfer poll has concluded

Goldie as the winner is well suited

Let’s hope he plays adequately

Because if his game goes wacky

His golf bag will most certainly be ruined

National Limerick day is awesome man! Kudos to all the people that turned in limericks as part of this week’s polling question – I never guessed we had so many clever GCCGL members.

It’s hard to argue with Pete being voted as the “angriest” golfer in the league. The best way to determine if Pete is playing well any given week, watch how he is walking.  If he is 30 yards ahead of his playing group, he’s probably not playing well.  If he is chatting it up, most likely he’s in the running for low net.  I think everyone has a story of a Pete melt down – clubs being slammed to the turf, bags being beaten, or just general cursing.  Today Pete, we give you the award for the angriest golfer…please don’t break it.

I think most of the other vote getters on the list were reasonable. Harris definitely gets angry with his golf game – but he generally keeps to himself when he’s mad.  Tucker…well he is Tucker and I have been known to shot loud curse words that would make Samuel L. Jackson blush.  But the one individual on this list I thought would be higher was Joe Cook.  Maybe he is sneaky about it, but the man regularly throws clubs after errant shots.  Just last week he kicked his bag after just missing the green on the 4th hole.  Pay attention the next time you are in CJ’s group.

And seriously – Rayburn? How did he get a vote?  The only thing I’ve seen that guy do after a bad shot was open another beer.

Until next week – fairways and greens my friends.
