Kreyling Korner – Week #15 – 08/01/19
THE LIPSMACKER MATCH OF THE WEEK
Busy work week so I only have time for week 15 MOWs. Hey…George doesn’t blog at all anymore (and that is his ONLY job) so be happy with what you get. Besides, 75% of the league doesn’t read this crap anyway.
Week 14 saw Eiser with a W and Bedell kissing his sister – which means old Lip-Gloss went 1-1. Overall record is 6-8.
A/B Group – Joe “Boot Boy” Eiser vs. Joe “Cousin Joe” Cook – Picking which match is the MOW is getting tougher and tougher to pick each week. Not because of the quality of the matches, but simply the because of the amount of subs and no-shows on a weekly basis. Luckily, we have Eiser and Cook to keep us entertained in week 15. Historically, Cook holds the advantage at 4-3. In 2019 Cook has a record of 6-5; Eiser has a record of 7-1-3. What I really enjoy about this match is how both will react to being picked. Eiser will come up to me and quote stats on how many times I’ve picked him in the MOW, how many times he’s won after being picked in the MOW, and how many times I’ve been wrong picking against him. Cook will cuss at me for picking him and state how much he hates this event and how bad he plays in it historically (all of which already happened over email).
GLOSSY PREDICTION – Unfortunately, Cousin Joe is right. Jason sent the states to him last night and he is bad at battle golf. He averages a net 38 and just 3 points in this event. The big question is who wins the putter on the first hole? Joe sunk about a 25 footer on the first hole last week…and I see that hot streack continuing in week 15!!! Cousin Joe wins 6-4.
C/D Group – Andy “Han Solo” Crowe vs. Serkan “The Assassin” Freeman – Both Crowe and Eiser get back to back MOWs. I have to give Andy a lot of credit, he battled hard last week and tied with Bedell. Maybe his hand sweating, non-sensical gibberish and practice golf swings aren’t as bad as I thought. He takes on The Assassin in week 15. Their only other match-up came in week 5 of this year with Freeman taking home the W. In 2019 Serkan is 4-6; Crowe is 2-5-1.
GLOSSY PREDICTION – I think this is going to be a good one. Crowe gets three strokes and this is the first time Freeman has played battle golf. It’s quite a shock to the system putting with something other than a putter. I think it might take the Assassin some time to adjust. And if Crowe has a decent strategy for taking clubs, I think he gets the W. Han Solo wins 5.5-4.5.
Until next week – fairways and greens my friends.
