Kreyling Korner – Week #12 – 07-05-12

THE LIP-SMACKER MATCH OF THE WEEK

2-12 and I’ve never been happier about it.  After Putter Face’s terrible performance in the Pink Ball Scramble, I need to get back to my jinxing ways.

A/B Group – Brian “Scratch” Turnwald vs. Allen “Cletus” Bloomhuff – Technically, The Process is NOT in front of Putter Face in the standings.  But, given their impressive performance in the Pink Ball Scramble, they have put themselves in the mix and are now a legitimate threat.  So let’s not let this thing get out of hand.  This one is actually pretty easy to pic even if I wasn’t playing up the whole jinx thing.  Turnwald is having a decent season overall at 3-2-1 with 39 points.  The other thing working in Scratch’s favor is that Cletus just had eye surgery.  So recently in fact then when I asked him to sub on Monday he said, “I can try but just to warn you I couldn’t see the road signs when I was driving last night.”  Yeah, Cletus is getting 8 strokes, but BT is LITERALLY playing an old blind guy.  Here goes nothing!  GLOSSY PREDICTION – Scratch wins 6-4.

C/D Group –  Mike “Swiper” Ethridge vs. Andy “Long Sleeves” Crowe – Here is the other thing that sucks about this week, the two teams in front of Putter Face are playing against each other.  Either way I go, I kind of end up a loser.  Go ahead and make all your loser jokes.  I get it, I suck and don’t win.  Why don’t you make fun of me for being bald while you are at it.  By the way, did you know George wears nothing but Cargo shorts?  Anyway, I’m going after the first-place team.  This is actually kind of funny too – I’m picking Crowe to win.  BAHAHAHAHAHA.  Ignore that he has 2 wins lifetime (1 of which is against the card), he picks up the W today!  GLOSSY PREDICTION – Crowe wins 5.5-4.5.

THE KREYLING KORNER

Little short on time this week so let’s do a quick Trend Watch.

 TRENDING UP

The Process

I have to hand it to The Process in week 11.  Despite having quite possibly the worst team name in the history of the GCCGL, they put together an impressive performance in the Pink Ball Scramble.  After posting an impressive overall score of 74, they were also given and additional 10 point bonus for returning all 3 pink balls.  All in, 30 points on the night has The Process 10 points out of first place, and well within striking distance as the GCCGL winds down the back half of the year.  One other interesting stat to point out – Brian Turnwald, the leader and A player of the Process – has been in the league for 3 years.  In each of those years his team has won the Pink Ball Scramble.  Scratch and the Process are definitely trending up…just don’t make it crash and burn.

TRENDING DOWN

Catalina Wine Mixer

I hate to kick a man (or team) when they are down, but wow is CWM struggling.  Last week they came in dead last in the Pink ball scramble with a total of 5 points.  They finished last in the scramble with a total score of 83 and only returned 1 ball for a 0 point bonus.  To add insult to injury, El Hefe jumped into the water on hole #7.  This moment will live in GCCGL history, right up there with Rayburn wrecking a cart on #9 on the Willows (I still crack up every time I think of him belly flopping down the hill and a runaway cart heading toward the green).  In addition to the snorkeling, we witnessed this team search in tall grass on hole 8 for an “extended” period of time.  I’m not judging by any stretch of the imagination as I believe it was their last pink ball.  After all of commotion of the Pink Ball Scramble, CWM finds themselves in dead last a whopping 40.5 points out of first place.  CWM you guys are trending down….but good luck tonight!

Until next week – fairways and greens my friends.
