Kreyling Korner – Week 16 – 08-02-18
THE LIP-SMACKER MATCH OF THE WEEK
1-1 in week #15 takes the overall record to 8-14. Week #16 brings the highly anticipate “Potluck” which always makes for some titanic clashes (maybe overstating it just a bit).
A/D Group – Oliver “Ollie” Livermore vs. Pete “Goldie” Goldenberg – How can this not be a MOW? Two of the GCCGL’s “legends” square off for the first time since 2010. Yes, believe it or not Goldie and Ollie have some history. They’ve actually played 7 times (first match was in 2002) and Pete OWNS Ollie with a record of 5-2. Now, let’s take a look at the present. Ollie is flat out killing it in 2018 – number 1 on the points leaderboard, number 1 on the winning percentage leader board and number 3 on the money leaderboard. Pete, he’s doing ok – 5-4 overall with 50 points. But by Goldie’s standards, he would probably say this is a bit of disappointing year. So, who wins? Pete’s giving 5 strokes and Ollie is simply on fire. I have to go with the hot hand and the guy getting the strokes. GLOSSY PREDICTION – Ollie wins 6-4.
A/D Group – Andy “Russell” Crowe vs. Brian “Scratch” Turnwald – Crowe getting the MOW nod two weeks in a row. I had to put one match in the MOW that has a ridiculous amount of stroke differential. Since Ethridge and his 22 handicap have a sub, Crowe and Turnwald is what you get. Russell gets 10 strokes this week. Don’t look now, but Andy notched his 4th career victory last week shooting a smooth 49 (net 37). Unfortunately, that ain’t going to cut it against arguably the best player in the GCCGL. For perspective, last week BT shot a 37 (net 34). I think Scratch overcomes the strokes tonight and pulls out a victory. GLOSSY PREDICTION – Turnwald wins 5.5-4.5.

TRENDING UP
Oliver “Ollie” Livermore
I know, I know, I know. Ollie is getting a lot of ink this week. But here at Kreyling Korner I try and bring you the inner-workings of the GCCGL. I let you see the man behind the curtain, so to speak. Anyway, how can Ollie not be trending up? He recorded the first ever 10-0 in the history of the league! Say what you want about the 10-0 victory coming against the card but people have been playing against the card for 23 years. And…in those 23 years not one 10-0 victory. I know I touched on his 2018 stats above, but it’s worth repeating: 9-3 on the season with 77.5 points. As I’ve said in “Trending Up” before – when your hot your hot…Ollie is definitely hot. Let’s see if all this positive pub goes to his head and he chokes in week 16. Ollie – you are trending up…and all eyes are on you.

A/B Players
Hear me out for a second! I get it, those of us in the A/B group are generally blessed with smooth golf swings, superior athleticism and overall incredibly high sex appeal. But, during Pot Luck week we are definitely “handicapped” (see what I did there). I did the math, and on average C/D players are getting 6 strokes. 6 strokes are a lot in 9 holes…and, we are playing on the front nine of the Pioneer. This could be a very long night for the A/B group.
