Kreyling Korner – Week 2 – 04/26/18
The 2018 season is officially underway. A myriad of controversy surrounded last week. Goldie’s already up to shenanigans and may have an unprecedented second rule written about him; Cupcake in hot water over some seriously questionable wire transfers that would make Frank Abagnale Jr. shake his head. And that was only week one! Week two brings the first week of match play and the ever-popular MOW!
THE LIPSMACKER MATCH OF THE WEEK
A/B Group – Jason “Cupcake” Nill vs. Joe “Cousin Joe” Cook – let me start this off by saying Co-Commissioner Cupcake has been at the most magical place on earth the last week, which means I have zero stats to go from. Does that mean I had trouble picking out this week’s A/B MOW? Of course not. You see, this year marks my 8th year as a GCCGL full-time member. During these 8 years I’ve been a teammate of Cupcakes 5 times. That’s right, 5 out of 8. As most of the GCCGL knows, those 5 seasons have been hugely unsuccessful. Making matters worse is Jason constantly blames those bad seasons on me. LipGloss, you picked terrible subs; LipGloss you suck at golf (this one may be true); LipGloss quit putting me in the MOW because you know there is a jinx. What’s that you say Cupcake – there is a MOW jinx? Well guess what buttercup, you ain’t on my team this year. Let’s test this MOW jinx right off the bat! GLOSSY PREDICTION – Nill wins 6-4. SUCK IT CUPCAKE!
C/D Group – Troy “Gobstopper” Bachmann vs. Matt “the Politician” Bedell – Another intriguing match-up in week 2 of the 2018 season. After a 4 year hiatus the Politician, Matt Bedell, is back in the GCCGL. In his first match play event since 2013, Matt takes on a GCCGL favorite, the Gobstopper. Who is the favorite in this one? Your guess is as good as mine…seriously, all it has done this spring is rain. Has anyone really had a chance to polish up their game? I guess the only advantage I might see in this one is that Matt did play last week while Troy needed a sub. But, Matt has also had a long layoff from the pressure of being knee deep in a match play event. I give the nod to Bedell only because I think he has played more golf so far this year. GLOSSY PREDICTION – Bedell wins 5.5-4.5.
THE KREYLING KORNER
Sorry boys – I didn’t have time for a Kreyling Korner this week. As Jason said in a email earlier, the accounting world has been crazy lately. Tune in next week for your fill of some completely useless blog fodder (at least I hope).
Until next week – fairways and greens my friends.
