Kreyling Korner – Week #18 – 081618

THE LIP-SMACKER MATCH OF THE WEEK   

A solid win by Russell in week 17 and Cupcake ended up playing the card.  I’m throwing out the Cupcake match which takes the overall record to 8-17.

A/B Group – Adam “Marge” Schott vs. Danny “Snoodles” Roller – a great match-up for battle golf.  Danny trying to extend his team’s first place position in the standings, Schott trying to play the role of spoiler.  Snoodles is having a hell of a season 7-4-1, 70.5 points and the current money leader at $66.  Marge is battling.  After a strong 2017 season, it’s hard to wonder what 2018 could have been IF his golf clubs were not stolen from his car.  Still, his new set of Titelist are sweet and he had a very solid round last week.  Maybe he has figured something out?  The only problem is Roller played even better in week #17.  Battle Golf week – so who wins the first hole and takes a putter?  Danny is so consistent, it’s hard seeing him make the first mistake.  Have to go with Snoodles. GLOSSY PREDICTION – Danny wins 6-4.

C/D Group – Jeff “Captain Hairy” Capannari vs. Oliver “Ollie” Livermore –  It’s been well documented both through George’s weekly updates and in Kreyling Korner that Ollie has gotten a lot of air time in the 2018 season.  I can assure you, this week’s MOW will NOT be blowing smoke up his ass.  In fact, Lip-gloss is a little salty about last week.  You see, my team (Putter Face) had a solid week last week amassing 24 points.  Before week 17 we were 6.5 points out of place.  I felt pretty good with 24 points when all the Putter Faces walked of the 9^th green.  That is, of course, until all the DD’s walked off the green and totaled 28 points.  Yup, we backed up 4, which I didn’t even consider since 24 points is a solid week on any account.  What really made my lips salty (pun intended) was when I saw the scores the next day.  Danny Roller with a hell of a round taking low net at 32 and grabbing 7 points.  21 points still up for grabs – the rest of DD had to have great rounds…right?  RIGHT?  No sir, an average of 7 points per match came from a net 37, a net 38 and a net 37.  Not ONE score at net par or better…and still 21 points.  Ollie shot one of the net 37 and scored 8 points.  That’s ridiculous.  It ain’t happening this week against my man Captain Harry.  Wait – I just looked at Cap’s score from last week…a net 42!  Ollie, I might be changing my vote for the luckiest golfer in the GCCGL from Pete to you.  Cap NEEDS to win the first hole.  He HAS to win the first hole.  He WILL win the first hole.  After Ollie losses his putter, it’s all smooth sailing from there  GLOSSY PREDICTION – Capannari wins 5.5-4.5.
