Kreyling Korner – Week #17 – September 10, 2020

THE LIPSMACKER MATCH OF THE WEEK   

Gentlemen (and Duer) we are in week 17 of the GCCGL.  Two weeks left in the season means only one thing…I’ve run out of stuff to blog about.  Here’s what I’m going to do – hit you with a MOW this week and come up with something for Kreyling Korner next week (I hope).  My last MOW was way back in week 15 when I picked Cook over Lipgloss in battle golf.  Good news, I won; bad news, my MOW record takes a hit. My 2020 record stands at 5-6.  I’d love to go .500 on the year so I’m going to try really hard this week…kind of. 

Week 17 MOW – Mike “Big Donkey” Harris vs. Danny “Snoodles” Roller – Members of the GCCGL, it’s time.  The last time the Big Donkey was in the MOW was week 15 of 2017.  Since then, there was a very public spat between LG and Big Donkey over handicaps at Barleycorns, Big Donkey quitting the league after the 2017 season, Big Donkey starting a business venture charging for subs in 2018, Big Donkey being a permanent sub in 2019 (and still charging for it), Big Donkey rejoining the league in 2020, LG and Big Donkey patching up their differences in 2020 and LG still failing to win a championship in the same time frame.  What’s all that mean – it means it’s time.  It’s time for Big Donkey to get me to .500 in 2020.  On the year, Mike is 6-5-1 averaging 5.13 points a match.  On the other side, Snoodles is 5-6-1 averaging 4.7 points a match. 

GLOSSY PREDICTION – Nineteen.  19 times Harris and Roller have clashed with the first ever match in 2007.  Of those 19 times, Roller dominates the series at 12-6-1.  Back in week 8 of the 2020 season, Harris squeaked out a victory 5.5-4.5.  Is history the most accurate prediction of the future, or does Mike’s zero handicap reflect the strength of his golf game in 2020?  I’m going with the latter.  Get me to .500 big donkey!  Harris wins 6-4.
