Hall of Fame Voting Period

The time has come to exercise power as a 2022 GCCGL member. Over the next couple of weeks, you will vote for one or more Hall of Fame candidates to be put on the ballot and submitted to the GCCGL selection committee. The candidates will then be thoroughly vetted by the selection committee and must receive 60% approval by the selection committee before being added to the GCCGL HOF.

Between March 7th and March 21st, each GCCGL member should review the HOF Overview process and select former or active GCCGL members to the HOF ballot using the online HOF Ballot.  Feel free to use all statistics available to you to help you make this very important decision.  After the inductee period expires on March 21, the selection committee will tally the totals for all candidates and proceed with the HOF voting procedure to determine this year’s GCCGL HOF inductee/s.

There are many fine candidates for the Seventh annual GCCGL HOF induction ceremony. Below you will find some examples of a few retired and active candidates to get the ball rolling. These are the only candidates on the ballot this season.  You can vote for up toTHREE or fewer candidates, including active members and substitutes. Good luck and remember, this GCCGL HOF vote is a privilege and should be taken very seriously (not really).

HOF Candidate – John Rayburn (Syndrome)
Bio – Syndrome has been a member of the GCCGL since 2006. It was right around that time when the league transformed from a family-oriented, fun-loving, cordial organization that you’d feel comfortable introducing your father-in-law to, into a league only JR could envision. Since he joined the league, nicknames became more humiliating, golf etiquette all but has disappeared and the insults….. well, they just got meaner!  But things did get a lot more fun! Syndrome single-handedly formed the now infamous post-round celebration which starts with several pitchers of cold beer and continues on for wings and more libations at a local establishment, usually Barleycorn’s. Although Syndrome has yet to crack the top 10 statistically in any of the major areas such as wins, money or points, he  is 9th in top 10 finishes and has managed to win 4 GCCGL Championships and isn’t that what it’s all about? At the very least, he deserves some consideration for the countless blog material he’s created over the years.

HOF Candidate – Joe Eiser (Boot Boy)
Bio – Eiser is the only GCCGL member that has more excuses for not breaking 40 than he has songs in his playlist (which is a pretty good playlist). Boot Boy got his nickname when he showed up for a GCCGL round with a boot strapped to his foot. You’ll only find this kind of dedication in the GCCGL. Joe played the round of his life that night and has been looking for that magic to return ever since then.  He is a crafty GCCGL veteran who knows the in and outs of this wacky league. He is still seeking that perfect round of golf which will probably never come. Eiser has put together a pretty decent stat sheet throughout his years in the GCCGL. He has decided to take a sabbatical for the 2022 season to spend more time with the family. Will this be the year he’s recognized for his play?

HOF Candidate – Nick Duer (Potter)
Bio – Duer has been a GCCGL enigma for quite some time until he won back-to-back GCCGL Championships in 2019-2020. But he’s still an enigma. He arguably has the sweetest swing in the league and perhaps the worst nickname in the league. “Potter” was given to Nick by Cletus because Nick was and probably still is a huge Harry Potter fan. Talk around town is that it is time for a new nickname for Mr. Nick Duer. Whatever his nickname situation is, you cannot deny his GCCGL statistics. He’s in the top 10 in several categories and continues to provide a virtual mountain of discussion topics every night at the post-round festivities. Nick is a mysterious guy and we are all just along for the ride. The most popular GCCGL question each and every year is, “What will Duer do next?” I don’t know, but I’m dying to find out.

There are many other deserving candidates but we are only going with these for the 2022 HOF ballot. Please feel free to comment below on YOUR favorites and why YOU think they should get put on the 2022 HOF ballet. YOU NO LONGER NEED TO BE LOGGED ON TO COMMENT! We’ve been trying to get folks to comment on this blog since its inception but it just hasn’t happened so I made it simple.  I can’t think of any worthier cause than this.

Good luck, I hope your favorites get inducted this year.
