2019 Vegas Diaries #2

The Minivan
By Syndrome

Arrive in Vegas hours late and after midnight and find our clubs were left behind.  See day 1 for back story. Get rental car…minivan…and cruise the strip. Thankfully it was near 2 on Thursday morning so no one saw us in our Dodge Caravan.  Southwest calls and our clubs have arrived. Go back to airport, retrieve clubs and head to hotel to check in. 2am local time so 5am for our bodies and brains.

5 hours of sleep later and we’re headed to the course with a stop for Chick-fil-a for breakfast.  Some might know me as somewhat picky about food and drink and I had Chick-fil-a once about 5 years ago.  It was ok. But, this was breakfast and it was completely indistinguishable from what I remember the last time I had McDonalds for breakfast about 20 years ago.  Put Chick-fil-a on the list with Chipotle of I don’t understand people’s swooning over either of them.

Fortunately, the beauty of the mountains and then the golf course made the Chick-fil-a a faint memory.  We played Sun Mountain for our practice round and it was incredible. But what struck us all was the unbelievable customer service focus.  Everyone at the club was incredibly friendly and focused on making sure wee had everything we needed. Even the starter. Seriously, the starter was laughing and joking with us as he explained the few course particulars.  I love this place.
