2013 Opening Day is almost here
The opening tee off for the 2013 GCCGL season is almost here! We begin the season this Thursday, April 25th promptly at 5:32pm. Trust me, we will need every single second of daylight in order for all six teams to finish on time. Your commissioner’s office has already been in touch with the clubhouse to make sure that the group in front of us goes off using a shotgun start so as to ensure that we tee off on time. Please make sure you are on time and ready to tee off at your respected times.
The 2013 team names have been selected. Personally, I kind of like this year’s team names although I know others aren’t as fond of them. Your 2013 team names are as follows:
Who’s Your Caddie – Team Captain Troy Bachmann
#teamname – Team Captain Hollywood
Moore’s Misfits – Team Captain Donnie Golf Game
Tiagra Woods – Team Captain Brad Cunningham (someone remind me of Brad’s nick name again)
Free Pork Sandwich – Team Captain Matt McLinn
Slicers not Hookers – Team Captain Melissa Cember
One thing I found interesting during this year’s team selection is the assembly of Moore’s Misfits. We only have 3 non-GCC employees in the GCCGL and they are all on this team. This team is comprised of Cousin’ Joe, Mr. Ed, Donnie Golf Game and Syndrome. John is the only GCC employee on this squad which is probably fitting. I don’t know why but it just feels right.
We will start the season the same way we did last year, with a Florida Scramble on the front side of the Willows. The current weather forecast is calling for a partly cloudy day with a high of 62 degrees. Not bad, we’ve had worse.
The GCCGL essentially is a blog. This allows for everyone to contribute via comments. When the site was first designed, it was done with this in mind. So if you feel like leaving a comment, please log in and do so. I know it is hard to believe, but it is possible to be interesting, witty and funny while using discretion. We have an interesting assortment of personalities in the GCCGL and if everyone contributes, it could add an additional element to the blog that will only heighten the talk around the coffee pots and hallways. We also have the Shoutbox if that is how you want to express yourself. Don’t have a login? No problem, just request one. I’ll get you started, what do you think about the team names? The schedule is set for the season. Remember, if we are rained out one week, we do NOT make up that week, we just move on to the next week’s schedule. We have added a rainout date for the last scramble of the year. If we get rained out on August 8th, we will tee it up the next Thursday, August 15th.
